A Huge number of African Americans and those men who lacked properties were barred from gaining full citizenship in the American society. This move implies that they did not enjoy the same rights as others in the USA (Ling Monteith, 2014). Lack of equal rights and protection created inequality in the country, a move that bred disrespect and hatred. The 1960's Civil Rights Movement played a crucial role in promoting equal rights for all Americans. Discussion The primary cause of this revolution was a need to end racial segregations in the USA. Despite the abolition of slavery in 1865, Africans still continued to be considered as inferior compared to the white. For example, Africans got beaten by whites, and they were not allowed to use the same facilities as white. The facilities include parks, hospitals, and schools. This move constituted segregation and was the primary cause of the movement. The movement started in the 1950s but gained widespread attention in 1960s. Martin Luther King led the campaign. It began with a series of events. The key event that started this was the ruling that the Supreme Court made in Brown v. Board of Education (Ling Monteith, 2014). The court explicitly termed the segregation in schools as unconstitutional, and Rev Brown won the case and was allowed to send his child to a white school in 1954.
